Monitoring Housekeeping to Ensure a Safer Space

With the virus still in the air and more uncovered, cleaning and disinfecting is a MUST at all times. Good housekeeping is not just sweeping and mopping the floor. It involves keeping a space (residence or work) clean, tidy, disinfected and safe from hazards.

Here are 3 checks to carry out at any hotel or serviced apartment to ensure your space has been thoroughly cleaned:

DO A VISUAL CHECK

A clean environment means absence of dirt and proper waste disposal which prevents pest invasion such as houseflies, rodents, mosquitoes and more. Pay attention to door handles, TV remote, bedside lamps. Look out for dust and fingerprints. Reach out to the house keepers to wipe down with a disinfectant or use your own wipes.

CHECK THE BATHROOMS

The most common place to get an infection is from the bathroom. Ensure the space is totally dry and water is not dripping from anywhere. Fungus and mold build up over time, hair stuck in the sink, water marks on the shower and soap scum are all signs that the bathroom has not been cleaned thoroughly.

VENTILATION

Check the air units, it’s no secret that there is a direct link between a dusty environment and nasal congestion, allergies or sinuses. Take the time to check that the windows and air vents are not dusty.

Bonus Tip: ASK QUESTIONS

If you have any concerns, call and speak to a member of the housekeeping team to ensure you feel comfortable enough in the space. Don’t be shy. Housekeepers are always happy to help, especially at Utobert
